Random Musings...

I have always been fascinated with anything related with investigation/mysteries/figuring out something. I guess we all are at some level, it all depends on our level of curiosity and as I am an extremely inquisitive person (maybe nosy sometimes, but only with my closed ones ;) this field has always been a kind of personal favorite.
Infact if I would have studied abroad and had options to choose from the infinite number of courses, I would have definitely taken up subjects like criminal psychology and forensic sciences in my curriculum. (will take up my fascination with Guns in other post, as some may find that or me scary *straight face* )

Well, agreed that the picture we see in TV/Movies or read in books is surely made glamorous and romanticized, but isn't there always an excitement in solving something. There is always a new case, new process of thinking, new beginnings, new findings in the lives of people who work in this area. I can imagine how there cannot be a feeling of mundaneness coming into their lives. Or maybe it is not just related to this field only, anybody can find their kinds of problems and choose a profession in which he/she has the pleasure to not just work on them, but be so involved  in that work that it feels exciting and charged up to go to work every morning ( Dragging yourself off the bed is a huge task everyday, especially in winters.. I completely empathize with people who do that :p )

In my quest of still discerning my interest in the work that I want to do, I now atleast have an idea of what I don't want to... Still, I want to be able to do get up all enthused to go to work, with even half the level of excitement that we used to have in our childhood about the next day "picnic". Also it would have to be the icing on the cake, to get a nice return so that the weekends can be all about shopping and splurging ;)

Don't you want to really enjoy your work? Or the money alone can keep you satisfied?

P.S - Here is a video that might be of some interest if you are a Lie to me, Castle, House, Bones, CSI Fan ;) or even a little interest in human psychology http://www.ted.com/talks/pamela_meyer_how_to_spot_a_liar.html?awesm=on.ted.com_Meyer&utm_campaign=&utm_medium=on.ted.com-static&utm_source=facebook.com&utm_content=awesm-publisher

P.P.S.- I have exams lined up for me, so posts may not be that frequent. Still don't ditch us ;)

The Perfect Pose and Poise!

Hey it's been so long!! Now I have decided that instead of writing long posts( which have to be planned), I will try to write whatever is going on in my head so as not to be absent for so long..

Today I saw Fatima Bhutto's interview at CNBC. I had seen her speech at Sydney's writers fest earlier, but today I was even more impressed by her charisma! She is the estranged niece of Benazir Bhutto, who lives in U.K and is vocal about the destructive politics happening in Pakistan.

You actually come across a handful of individuals who posses beauty with brains(I definitely do not find every second girl easy on the eye as some of my guy friends do :P). So coming back to Fatima, her speech was frank, spoken with style and aplomb which only true leaders posses, with excellent command over english, and if I were a guy I could have spend the time by just gazing at her.. ( I can imagine the jokes I may have to suffer for this line, but the truth is for all to see ;)

Also she shared my views on Pakistan, I guess she was speaking only the truth. She starts with facts and figures about Pakistan, degrading political situations, terrorist activities and gave the real picture.
Well there are very few people whom I start admiring so easily, and she is now in my list. In her interview she exuded positive aura, with her elegant smile in place and gave the perfect answers.

After that and some time spent(or wasted :-l) googling about her, I now have 2 books on my list of "Want to read" books ( 8:50 a.m. and Songs of Blood and Swords... The "should read" list is another story( which often remains forgotten)

Anyways, here is the link of her impressive speech for those of you in whom I generated an iota of interest Fatima Bhutto's Speech :)
Cheers,
Shaily
